wii exercise class

The other day I was driving along, listening to NPR, and an oddity of a story came on. Not surprising, seeing as NPR always finds the most random & interesting news, but this one really had me going. In Houston, a university is setting up a class with 10 wii's for exercise. Students will earn credits and at the same time get "fit".

How cool is this? Do you think we can convince St. Thomas to add this?

Or on the other hand, is this just like Pikal from eXistenZ, who professed, "nobody skies anymore". Is the wii fit the future of exercise?

I added the link to the story. It's another great piece by NPR, and it gives more information about the program.

That is an interesting story but, in my opinion, it won't work. The Wii excerise games are not effective at all at helping people lose weight. Whatever happen to going to the gym and working out/get in shape the old fashioned way? This society really is being overrun by technology. We flock to it like Zombies do towards live human brains. The never ending thrist for better technology is going to make the world just like Dawn of the Dead.

Wow!

I wonder who convinced the board this was worthy of a class. You kind of have to applaud them though, at least their promoting physical activity, and it's only 1 credit.

But it doesn't replace good ol' exercise.
